    Aalto Vase 10.5"

    Design Alvar Aalto
    Mouth-blown lead-free glass
    Made in Finland by Iittala

This large 10.5" AALTO vase is perfect for tall flowers. Now available in special limited edition amethyst color, a radiant new shade that transforms from blue to vibrant purple in the light. This vase comes in a 140th Anniversary gift package.

Design legend Alvar Aalto created his iconic collection of glass vases in 1936. Inspired by waves ("aalto" in Finnish), the Aalto vase is the most known vase in the world and a staple of modern Scandinavian design. Aalto did not design just one vase for the Paris and New York World Fairs in the 1930's, but a collection of vases in different shapes and sizes. One of the shapes in the original collection was the vase number 3032 with a more round and soft Aalto shape. This shape is perfect for a vase and ideal for taller flowers. Each vase in the Alvar Aalto Collection is mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory in Finland.

Alvar Aalto is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in modern architecture and Scandinavian design. Aalto chose not to focus on how the object should be used; rather, he believed it was up to the individual to decide.

The Aalto vases have become an icon of Finnish design and one of the most well-known Finnish products ever produced. Aalto vases are also on display in numerous major museums and are particularly popular as wedding presents and gifts on major occasions.
