Ilmari Tapiovaara designed the Crinolette chair in 1962. The chair was originally manufactured by the Finnish company Asko in 1962-1968, and only 4200 chairs were produced. Elegant Crinolette refines the traditional spoke chair design – the unique back rest gives it a light and distinctive form.

This elegant armchair with a distinctive, memorable shape was designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara. Made of solid birch, the armchair features a traditional spoke back attached to a sloping curved rail and a wide seat with a softly rounded edge. Its name playfully refers to the structured, hooped petticoats fashionable in the 19th century, whose shape the chair resembles.
