Design Konstantin Grcic, 2012
Walnut, douglas fir, thermo-treated ash
Made in Italy by Mattiazzi®
With its generous dimensions and straightforward construction, the Medici Chair is a contemporary interpretation of the classic Adirondack chair. Crafted for strength and semi-reclined for open-air relaxation, designer Konstantin Grcic’s design is generous and sculptural. It’s ideal for outdoor use as a solitary piece of furniture or gathered together in small groups.
Born from the marriage of technology and craftsmanship, the low-sitting Medici chair is both a comfortable lounge chair and sculptural delight—an elegant choice for poolside lounging or patio gatherings.
Thermo-oiled ash, a finish that employs a new process of heat-treating and hand-oiling that seals the wood and keeps it moisture resistant, helps the Medici Chair weather the outdoor elements.
The Medici Chair was named for one of Italy’s most famous families, Famiglia de' Medici, whose power and influence over the city of Florence brought about the Italian Renaissance. No surprise, then, that the Medici Chair is as much a work of art as it is a lounge chair.
Grcic’s Medici Chair was named “Furniture Design of the Year” by Icon magazine.
