    Furniture Arrangement Tips

An empty room in which you're looking to place and arrange furniture is like being an artist with a blank canvas.  You'll need to take a moment to figure a few things out first and have an idea of what you would like to do and where it should go before you begin purchasing pieces to place.  These tips can help you get started, especially if it's the first time you'll be flexing your inner interior decorator muscles.

Start off by determining the size of the room.  You'll probably want to grab a good old fashioned tape measure to figure out the dimensions or should you not have one on hand you can also measure your foot and walk across the room heel to toe.  It may not be quite as accurate as a tape measure, but this alternative method will still give you a general idea of how much space you have to work with.  Once you've figured out the dimensions of the room, measure the doors, hallways and stairs.  This step may seem silly, but the last thing you want is to purchase an expensive piece of furniture that will not fit through a doorway.

Every single object you buy will have its dimensions so if you'd like to boost the visual appeal of the room consider using an assortment of furniture that has different characteristics.  If you can arrange your furniture relative to one another and the size of the space you intend to place them, you can also create a good sense of balance that can boost the relaxed ambiance.
