CA Modern Home Welcomes Kay Bojesen

We are very excited to announce that we are now selling and stocking Danish modern design furniture brand Kay Bojesen Denmark, named after the Danish designer and silversmith Kay Bojesen. Kay Bojesen Denmark reproduces and develops high quality products based on the creative and amusing animal world of Kay Bojesen that celebrate the child within us all.

Kay Bojesen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 15, 1886 and originally trained to become a grocer before switching over to silversmithing in 1906 when he began working for fellow silversmith Georg Jensen. Perhaps due to his working along Jensen, Bojensen’s early work was described as heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau style.

By the 1920s Bojesen had begun designing small toys made out of wood with moveable limbs which depicted animals like a limba monkey, an elephant made of oak, a beech rocking horse, parrot, and an oak and maple bear. He also made toy soldiers based on the Danish Royal Guard. In 1990 the rights to the toys were purchased by Danish design house Rosendahl. Besides the toys, Bojesen also designed furniture for children, housewares and jewelry.
