    Design Arne Jacobsen, 1957

    Made by Fritz Hansen

The Grand Prix™ (3130) design, by Arne Jacobsen was introduced by Fritz Hansen at the Designers' Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen, in 1957. Later that year, the chair was displayed at the Triennale in Milan where it received the Grand Prix - the finest distinction of the exhibition. After which the chair has always been called the Grand Prix Chair.

Originally, the Grand Prix chair was introduced with a wooden and steel base. Once again, the chair is available in its original offering with non-stackable wood legs or stackable chromed steel tube legs. Grand Prix is an ideal chair with a wide range of applications, such as dining, conference, office and the private home. It is lightweight and available in an extensive palette of colors, wood types and with fabric or leather upholstery. The wooden leg Grand Prix chair is only available in one height option.

Arne Jacobsen cooperation with Fritz Hansen dates back to 1934. The Ant and Series 7 chairs, produced in 1952, propelled both Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen's names into furniture history. At the end of the 50's Arne Jacobsen designed the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which introduced the Egg, the Swan, the Swan sofa and Series 3300 to the design world. Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. His furniture and other design work have become a national and international heritage.

    Note:
Natural veneer: wood grain is fully visible.
Colored ash finish: wood grain is clearly visible through the color.
