Fredericia’s Søborg chair is part of Børge Mogensen’s collection featuring bent plywood seats. The collection was inspired by an international design competition for low-cost furniture organized by MoMA New York in 1948. The first Søborg chairs with a wooden frame were released in 1950, and in 1952 the collection grew with metal-framed versions. The chairs are excellent examples of Mogensen’s fresh, timeless functionalism that easily suits any environment from residential spaces to restaurants and other public areas.
