With its curvaceous shade and slender vertical stand, the Nelson Pear Lotus Floor Lamp (1952) plays with shape and geometry. It features an on/off floor switch and is available with or without a walnut cover on its base. The Nelson Pear Floor Lamp is produced in collaboration with the George Nelson Foundation. Bulb (not included): LED, CFL, or incandescent; E26 base; 120W max for small, 150W max for others. UL Listed.

Provides soft, glowing light.
Translucent plastic polymer shade with visible steel infrastructure.
Organic shape.
Brushed, nickel-plated steel details.

A Beautiful Curve

With a beautifully flared lampshade and a stable steel base, the Nelson Pear Lotus Floor Lamp has a tall, sculptural presence. It is available in two sizes to complement interiors of different sizes. George Nelson first designed them in 1952, when he came across a Swedish hanging lamp that he wanted to acquire for his office. He was challenged by the expensive price and decided to make his own. The result was a series of elemental, spherical shapes like a rounded apple, a wide saucer, an elongated cigar, and a shapely pear, among others.

The George Nelson Bubble Lamp® collection is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Herman Miller is the official site for the George Nelson Bubble Lamp® Collection.
