Design Arne Jacobsen, 1957
Steel stem, spun steel shade and base
Made in Denmark by Louis Poulsen
Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Blu) and was part of the total design concept created for the hotel. Several of the products created for the hotel are regarded as design icons and within the lighting industry the AJ-lamps in particular have obtained world-fame. In connection with the 50th anniversary of the launch of the AJ lighting family, five new colorr variants were introduced. The new colors are carefully chosen from an updated Arne Jacobsen color concept.
The AJ Wall has a fixture head with a distinct, asymmetrical shape, which determines the light characteristics of the fixture. The fixture head is rotatable and can be turned 60 degrees to the sides. The unique quality of the design idiom has made the fixture a modern classic. The luminaire backplate includes a switch.
