Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2011 Solid maple, ceramic Made by Vitra
While furniture is undoubtedly the core element of any interior design, it is only when furnishings are combined with decorative and personal items that an atmospherically rich and vibrant collage is created. Fabric, colors, lighting, objects and accessories evoke sensory impressions that allow rooms to be designed and redesigned in line with altered moods and requirements. Natural themes have played a critical role since the earliest known interiors, and are also reflected in the work of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Shaped from solid maple wood and gently smoothed or ceramic with a glazed finish, "L'Oiseau" conjures the clarity of the objects of Nordic folk art. "L'Oiseau" adds a sympathetic note to modern interiors without being at all cutesy or kitschy like many other animal figures.
The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery. They were named "Creator of the Year" in 2002, elected "designer of the year" in 2003 and have won multiple other awards. Their creations have been exhibited in many collective or solo exhibitions and are part of some permanent museum collections around the world.
