    Rabari Rug

    ***** USUALLY SHIPS IN 2-3 WEEKS *****
(otherwise please allow 10-12 weeks for delivery)

Design Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien
    100% New Zealand wool, hand-knotted & hand-woven sumak
    Handmade by Nanimarquina

"We decided to create a series of rugs that evoke the sensual and shiny world of tribal folk embroidery of India. We wanted our collection for nanimarquina to reference the unfinished embroideries like studies of different techniques in progress, as they gradually emerge over time. The spontaneous compositions of the rugs embody the serendipity and freedom to improvise inherent in each step of a handmade piece. Joyful, irreverent and unique." -Doshi Levien

The Rabari collection is created with 100% New Zealand wool, handmade in India with hand-knotted and hand-woven Sumak techniques.

The weaving technique used in this collection, known as hand knotted sumak, is the result of a great amount of work and imagination on the part of the Indian weavers. A thin braid is formed knot by knot, thus acquiring a distressed look, but at the same time producing a high-quality result.

Wool from New Zealand sheep is a natural, sustainable and biodegradable fiber. This beautiful wool is hypoallergenic, it is easy to care for, ages well and holds its color. It also minimized noise levels, while it creates a relaxing and comfortable environment.

Nanimarquina was founded in 1987 focusing on offering rugs to a world that is interested in creativity, quality and innovation. Today, Nanimarquina is one of the leading companies in the contemporary rugs sector. Under the premise of "reuse, reduce, recycle", they pay the utmost attention to caring for and preserving the environment that surrounds us. All of their rugs are hand made in countries with great traditions of craftsmanship. Nanimarquina also guarantees that no child labor is used in the manufacturing of their rugs. They also collaborate actively with organizations to further improve standards of living for those directly involved in the process of producing their rugs.

The collection is comprised of four different rugs, the Rabari collection offers exceptional beauty through the outstanding design by Doshi & Levien, a refined combination of patterns with a unique graphic sensuality.
