Saarinen dining table by Knoll, was originally designed in 1956.

Eero Saarinen was classically trained in sculpture and architecture. His collaboration with Charles Eames in 1937 led to the creation of the Organic Chair, made from plywood, foam and rubber. The Organic chair was the very first three-dimensionally shaped bucket armchair and with this theme in mind, Saarinen developed icons such as The Womb Chair and Ottoman and the Tulip Arm Chairs. The Saarinen table collection is by far, one of his most celebrated designs. Eero Saarinen sought the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution within an overall unity of design. He claims "I wanted to clear up the slum of legs" found on most dining sets. So Saarinen designed the pedestal collection which each object features a simple pedestal made out of heavy molded cast aluminum. Saarnen's pedestal collection which is also known as the "tulip" collection comprises of a Dining Table, Side Table, Coffee Table, Side Chair, Arm Chair and Stool.

Bases of the Saarinen Dining Tables are available in White, Black or Platinum. Made from a heavy molded cast aluminum that has been strapped polished. Black and white bases are coated in a tough, abrasion-resistant Rilsan finish. Platinum bases consist of a highly resilient polyurethane enamel wet coat with a clear satin finish.
