    The Artek Semi-Annual Begins Tomorrow

    It’s the month of March and it’s time to announce another great sale for modern home furniture fans and enthusiasts.  The Artek Semi-Annual Sale kicks off tomorrow, March 3rd and continues until the 19th.  For a limited time, save fifteen percent on the various pieces by Finnish furniture company Artek.

    Artek was founded in 1935 by husband and wife team Alvar and Aino Aalto (the former an architect),  art historian Nils-Gustav Hahl, and visual arts promoter Maire Gullichsen.  Intentionally going with a non-Finnish name for the company, the Artek name is intended to represent a fusion of art and technology, reiterating the company’s expertise when it comes to its quality materials and its production prowess.

    We have a couple of Artek items in stock.  Some of these include the Pendant Lamp A110 (also known as the Käsikranaatti or “hand grenade”) and the Stool 60 designed by Alvar Aalto and Otto Korhonen.  Other unique pieces you can purchase during the sale are the Armchair 400 Tank Chair, the futuristic-looking Karuselli Lounge Chair & Ottoman, and the Nesting Table 88.  Additional Artek highlights include the Tea Trolley 900 and 901, the Trienna Coffee Table and the simple bentwood design of the Umbrella Stand 115.
