Apartment Therapy Highlights Kartell Componibili
Like any design aficionado, much less one dedicated to offering the latest and greatest in Modern Design Furniture, I like to keep abreast of the goings-on in the dynamic global design world. Apartment Therapy is among my favorites sources, and I was delighted to see them feature a favorite collection of mine, one I proudly carry at CAModernHomes.com – Componibili, by noted Italian furniture maker Kartell. Whereas most modern design icons aim for audacious, attention-grabbing motifs, Componibili takes an admirably more low-key approach: rather than just balance form and function, which it no doubt does quite well, this humble collection offers the utmost utility through an understated design that blends into just about every environment. As a result, even the tightest spaces can accommodate these versatile storage units.
Introduced by Kartell in 1969, the Componibili was the brainchild of none other than Anna Casatelli Ferrieri, the Italian designer who founded the company with her husband just twenty years prior. Ferrieri’s emphasis on a modular yet sleek design scheme was intended to balance aesthetics with practicality.
Even a cursory glance of the collection, which spans many colors, sizes, and variations, shows its design is both sensible and utilitarian. Little wonder that the Componibili has been a popular brand around the world to this day. In addition to its small but accommodating size, the collection has low-key features that truly show its brilliance. The round shapes are not just sleek, but offer more space and modularity by avoiding clunk corners. The doors slide to open, rather than open outwards, making the Componibili ideal for confined spaces. You can even stack units on top of each other!
Given such versatile uses, it is little wonder why the Componibili remains so iconic and popular.
