Tips for Creating More Room Space

The temperatures are already dipping into chilly weather numbers, forcing many people to stay indoors.  While there may not be anything quite like the near infinite, open space of the great outdoors, there is no reason you can't make your indoor living space feel larger than it is.  With a few color choices and arrangements, you can create the illusion of space.

A strategically placed mirror will indeed make a room seem larger than it is since your eyes will naturally travel beyond the room.  A large, horizontal mirror along the wall of a dining room can do wonders when entertaining guests.  Complement the mirrors with reflective, glossy paint finishes near the ceilings and the room will also feel taller and more open.

This one may seem strange but adding one piece of oversized furniture to a small room amid slightly smaller furniture will fool the brain into thinking the room is quite large if it's capable of accommodating such a piece of furniture.  You can also use a large painting or maybe some long, dramatic curtains.

Lastly, decluttering and cleaning up where you can always make more space, allowing you to potentially rearrange furniture, thus creating more space.  Do some experimenting and see what works best.
