The Essential Eames Exhibition

Largely regarded as the first couple of furniture design, Charles and Ray Eames are among the most important in revolutionizing modern design furniture.  The Eames Chair is one of the most iconic designs in history, frequently imitated but never duplicated.  Its status as an important milestone in furniture design is so well known, it is currently a permanent fixture at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Eames Demetrios, the grandson of Charles and Ray Eames is an artist himself, working as a filmmaker and multimedia artist.  He is currently touring several different cities and countries including India, Bangalore, Singapore and Hong Kong, showcasing the “Essential Eames Pocket Edition” exhibition, which focus not only on furniture but also toys, architecture, rare images, sketches, and design pieces created by his famous grandparents.  Guests are encouraged to sit on the various furniture which includes the Eames Chair as well as the Eames Compact Sofa, among others.

Interestingly, Charles and Ray are responsible for playing a role in the founding of the National School of Design in Ahmedabad.  India is also one of the countries where Herman Miller designs and markets Eames furniture.
