Modsy Seeks to Change Home Decor
The problem most people run into when they're out buying furniture is the hurdle between seeing a piece in a showroom or on a website, and then figuring out whether it's right for the room it's intended to be used in or if it even fits. Sometimes a piece just doesn't look right once it's been placed inside the home and then you're stuck with a piece you don't like or you're forced to take back to the store.
With the advent of smartphone apps that can make furniture shopping easier, one company is looking to address this common problem. Calling itself Modsy, the mobile app is designed to make the process of redesigning a room a fun and much less cumbersome process.
Unlike most apps focused on home décor, Modsy lets users view designs in their context of their own home with renderings that are intended to look photo-realistic. Users take a couple of pictures of the room they intend to spruce up and send to Modsy's team along with the room dimensions. In about two days, users receive a digital mockup of what their space would look like redesigned with new décor and furniture. The user would then be able to purchase trough the Modsy app or they will be sent to the manufacturer's website.
